Social Media and the Modern Student
Students.... how is social media effecting you? This is a question that I am interested in finding the answer to. I want to know so that I can push the Learning Commons in a direction that would help you and promote the social media that you are using everyday. I know that you use Facebook and Twitter to help stay connected with your friends and followers. So, where do you see the Library and Learning Commons using such social media as Twitter and Facebook? Would you use them to communicate with your faculty advisor in the same manner as your High School Sweetheart? Would you like Library updates sent to you via a twitt? Also, what type of updates are you looking for? I am waiting for your comments....

Josh I think it's good that you're using this blog to start a conversation. Although I'm not sure if this vague questioning is the most beneficial ( I very much could be wrong about this ). I'm think your exact questions fall into that area of "They don't know what they don't know". Maybe a more beneficial approach could be to throw out some ideas and asked for responses and elaborations.

1.) Would you like to hear about new technologies, workshops and/or facility changes via the Library's social medias?
2.) Would you like to notified about the Library's out reach and interactions with the MUSC communities and/or public outreach?
3.) Would you be interested in learning how other students/faulty/staff are using the Library?
4.) Would you like to promote your projects and programs through the Library?
Also here a link to a article concerning the modern student you all might find interesting
Thanks for the advice Sherman. My next posting will definitely include one or two of these questions. Also, thanks for the links. They are very helpful with my research. Please keep the comments coming.
